What You Need Before You Start
Get these ready before attempting either method:

- A PC or laptop with a web browser — required for sideloading
- OR an Android or iPhone — sufficient for casting
- A MovieBox Pro account with an active invite code
- Both your Roku and phone/PC connected to the same Wi-Fi network

How to Get a MovieBox Pro Invite Code
MovieBox Pro is invite-only. You can’t create an account without a code. Here are three ways to get one:
- Ask an existing user — anyone with a MovieBox Pro account can generate invite codes through the app’s Settings menu
- Register on the official MovieBox Pro website with your Google account and wait for approval — can take 2–5 days
- Check Reddit or Discord — communities like r/MovieBoxPro sometimes share active codes, though availability is inconsistent
Without an invite code, the app won’t function even after a successful install.
Method 1: Sideload MovieBox Pro Using Developer Mode
This installs MovieBox Pro as a channel directly on your Roku device. You’ll use Roku’s built-in Development Application Installer to upload the app package.
Step 1 — Enable Developer Mode on Roku
Turn on your Roku and pick up the Roku remote. Enter this exact button sequence at a steady pace:
Home × 3 → Up × 2 → Right → Left → Right → Left → RightPress each button with a brief, deliberate pause between each press. If the sequence is correct, the Developer Settings screen appears on your TV.
On that screen, note two things:

Select “Enable installer and restart”. Accept the Developer Tools License Agreement, then create a password. The password is case-sensitive — save it before you confirm, because you’ll need it shortly.
Your Roku will reboot. The IP address can change after the reboot, so re-check the Developer Settings screen once it restarts before moving to the next step.
Step 2 — Download the MovieBox Pro ZIP File
On your PC, go to the official MovieBox Pro website and download the Roku-compatible channel file. It downloads as a .zip package.
Do not extract or unzip the file. The Development Application Installer needs it as a ZIP. Opening and extracting it will break the installation entirely.

Step 3 — Open the Development Application Installer
On your PC, open a browser and type the Roku IP address from Step 1 into the address bar. It looks like:

After logging in, the Development Application Installer page loads. This is Roku’s official tool for uploading channel packages to developer-mode devices.
Page won’t load? Your PC and Roku must be on the exact same Wi-Fi network. Some routers handle 2.4GHz and 5GHz as separate network segments, which blocks local device access. Switch both devices to the same band and try again. Also temporarily disable your PC’s firewall if the issue persists.
Step 4 — Upload and Install the App
On the Development Application Installer page:
- Click “Upload”
- Select the MovieBox Pro ZIP file from your PC
- Click “Install”
Processing takes a few seconds. Once complete, MovieBox Pro appears as a new channel on your Roku home screen. Launch it, sign in with your MovieBox Pro account, and it’s ready to use.
Method 2: Cast MovieBox Pro to Roku from Your Phone
This is the simpler option. MovieBox Pro runs on your phone, and you mirror the screen to Roku. Video quality depends on your Wi-Fi strength and phone specs — it’s slightly lower than a direct install but works well for most content.
Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
Android
- On your Roku, go to Settings → System → Screen Mirroring and enable it
- Download and install the MovieBox Pro APK on your Android phone from the official MovieBox Pro site
- Open your phone’s Quick Settings panel (swipe down from the top)
- Tap “Screen Cast”, “Smart View”, or “Cast” — the label varies by manufacturer
- Select your Roku device from the list of available screens
- Open MovieBox Pro on your phone — content plays on your Roku TV

iPhone (iOS)
iOS doesn’t support native Roku screen mirroring the same way Android does. Use one of these two approaches:

- Open the app and connect it to your Roku device

Troubleshooting
Installer Page Won’t Load
The most common cause is a network mismatch. Your PC and Roku need to be on the same subnet. If your router separates 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections into different network segments, devices on different bands can’t see each other locally. Move both to the same band and try again.
If the Roku app also can’t find your device from your phone, the problem is almost certainly a router-level isolation setting — check for “AP Isolation” or “Client Isolation” in your router settings and disable it.
Wrong Password or Can’t Log In to Installer
The Developer Mode password is case-sensitive. Retype it manually rather than copy-pasting. If you’ve forgotten it entirely, there’s no recovery option — you’ll need to factory reset your Roku and redo the developer mode setup from scratch.
App Installs But Won’t Open
This usually means one of two things: the ZIP file was corrupted during the download, or the file was unzipped before upload. Re-download the original ZIP from the MovieBox Pro website, confirm it stays compressed, and reinstall it through the Development Application Installer.
Is It Safe to Use MovieBox Pro on Roku?
Enabling developer mode does not void your Roku warranty. Roku designed the mode for app developers and it’s a documented feature. The security risk of sideloading is low as long as you download the ZIP file from the official MovieBox Pro website — avoid third-party download sites where the file may be modified.
